Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked citizens to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and make it a celebration in every home ahead of Independence Day.

“Come, let us make #HarGharTiranga a celebration in every home,” Modi said in a post on Instagram, sharing a video related to the campaign. This came ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations on 15th of August.

“Come, let us celebrate August 15 with pride and honour, pay tribute to the freedom fighters, and pledge to build a developed India (Viksit Bharat). The Tricolour in every home, the Tricolour in every household, the Tricolour in every heart. Come, let us hoist the Tricolour at every home,” the PM said.

The 2026 edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is being observed in August, with citizens encouraged to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate in the nationwide celebration.

The campaign seeks to encourage people to bring the Tricolour into their homes and celebrate the spirit of independence.

‘Vande Mataram’ at Red Fort

Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday said the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ will be collectively sung from the ramparts of the Red Fort before the National Anthem on Independence Day.

On X, Gupta described the occasion as a “glorious and historic moment” and said it would be the first time that a collective rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ would take place at the Red Fort before the National Anthem.

Gupta said ‘Vande Mataram’ has been an “immortal national mantra” of India’s independence movement, inspiring revolutionaries and giving voice to the sacrifices of freedom fighters.

She also linked the event to the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, the resolution passed in Parliament and the leadership of PM Modi, saying the developments would mark a “grand proclamation” of India’s national memory, cultural pride and devotion to the country.

“Vande Mataram. Jai Hind, Mother India!” Gupta said in her post.

Goa hosts Tiranga rally ahead of Independence Day

Panaji witnessed a Tiranga Rally as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, with participants taking part in a march from Miramar Circle to Azad Maidan via Kala Academy.

Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant addressed participants at Kala Academy, PTI reported.
