An estimated 16 million people are breathing the toxic air which deceptively looks like fog. Experts have warned of severe health problems for children who are forced to attend school.

School children battled the haze of contaminated air early in the morning on their way to school. Despite that, the Delhi government said that they have no plans to close the schools.

There have been accidents reported due to low-visibility on Yamuna -Expressway as well.

On Wednesday, multiple monitoring agencies in Delhi recorded the highly polluting and dangerous PM2.5 and PM10 at over 10 times the safe limit across the city state during the day.
