In pics: UP districts overwhelmed as swollen rivers breach embankments

Large swathes of Varanasi and Gonda were inundated by floodwaters from the Ganga and Ghaghra rivers, which have been flowing above the danger mark.

Incessant rainfall turned the flood situation worse in the Bundelkhand region as well as in the districts along the Ganga River on Saturday, as fresh areas were flooded in Allahabad, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Gonda and Ballia districts were overwhelmed.

Around 14 people have died in incidents of house collapse and drowning in various districts, and nearly 7,000 families have been affected by the flood in different areas along the rivers.
