Security has been put on high alert in and around Katra town, the base camp of the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, in the Reasi district after two army uniforms were recovered from under a bridge.

During routine patrolling, two army uniforms and shoes were found abandoned under a bridge in the Jammu district’s Jhajjar Kotli area near Katra, a police officer said on Saturday.

He said security has been tightened in and around Katra town but the situation is normal.

“We have kept the security on the high alert in the entire Katra town, although nothing substantial has been found but frisking of vehicles coming to the town are being done on every check post,” the officer said.

The police have ordered an inquiry.
