Minimum temperatures dip further in J-K, Srinagar records minus 1.5

Kargil was the coldest area in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, as Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Leh all recorded temperatures below the freezing point.
Minimum temperatures continued their free fall in the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region on Saturday due to a clear overnight sky, a Met official said.
Srinagar city recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.5, Pahalgam minus 4.2 and Gulmarg minus 7 degrees Celsius.

At minus 13, Kargil was the coldest town in Jammu and Kashmir as Leh recorded minus 5.2 as the night’s lowest temperature.
Jammu city and Katra town recorded 7.5, Batote four, Banihal 0.7, Bhaderwah two and Udhampur four degrees Celsius.
Kashmir has witnessed scant snowfall so far this winter, a cause of concern as the mountain streams, lakes and bountiful rivers flow during summer only if there has been heavy snowfall in winter.
