Narada scam related footage will be sent to Chandigarh lab

The Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad does not have the necessary infrastructure to examine the genuineness of the Narada videos, it has told the Calcutta high court, prompting the division bench to order that all Narada scam-related equipment and footage be sent to CFSL Chandigarh within 10 days.

The Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad does not have the necessary infrastructure to examine the genuineness of the Narada videos, it has told the Calcutta high court, prompting the division bench to order that all Narada scam-related equipment and footage be sent to CFSL Chandigarh within 10 days.

CFSL Chandigarh has to submit its report to the court within a month after receiving it.

During the hearing on Friday, the report sent to the court from CFSL Hyderabad was opened. Lab authorities suggested that the scam-related equipment (pen drive, laptop, hard disk and the iPhone on which the sting was recorded) should be sent to Chandigarh for testing.

The Narada videos, first telecast on March 14, showed many Trinamool leaders accepting cash from the representative of a fictitious company promising favours in return. Those seen accepting cash were ministers Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakim and Madan Mitra, Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee, MPs Saugata Roy, Suvendu Adhikari, Prasun Banerjee, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Sultan Ahmed and Aparupa Poddar, MLA Iqbal Ahmed and Syed Md Hussain Mirza (who claimed to take the money on behalf of Mukul Roy).
