The jostle among BJP leaders to share the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his public meetings is set to become intense.
The party has decided to limit the number of leaders who will be on stage along with the PM at rallies up to seven, and not more than 11 in poll-bound states.
This is part of the “dos and don’ts” that BJP general secretary Arun Singh has sent to state units for Modi’s rallies.
The Prime Minister’s Office also wants a list of BJP leaders who will share the stage with him and receive him at airports and helipads, a week before a scheduled rally.
“We are proud that Modi, leader of a party with 11 crore member base, is the world’s most popular leader,” Singh said in his letter, listing steps to be taken at the PM’s rallies to make it a success.
The party has been asked to send pointers for Modi’s speech 10 days in advance and appoint a senior leader to coordinate with the PMO ahead of the rallies.
A special cleanliness drive will be carried out in areas 10 days before the PM’s rally and local units will have to send pictures of the exercise to BJP headquarters on a daily basis.

{{/usCountry}}Leaders have also been asked to keep a common template for hoardings and posters for Modi’s rallies and ensure that each of these sends a “message”.
The party has asked its state units to ensure that every poster showcases the central government’s schemes and achievements.
This would mean that local leaders, who put up big posters with their photos with the Prime Minister, will no longer be allowed to do so.
BJP units have been advised to hire a standard agency for light and sound arrangements. In the run up to the 2014 elections, Modi travelled over three lakh kilometres and addressed 437 rallies.
