Former cricketer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a true patriot and would lead the country on the path of progress.
While talking to media persons on Monday, Sindhu said the Prime Minister’s visit to Chandra Shekhar Azad park to pay floral tribute to the legendary freedom fighter was the gesture of a true patriot.
“There are two types of feelings in a man. The first is for ‘roti, kapda aur makan’ while the second is of love and dedication for his country. The Prime Minister is completely dedicated to the nation,” he added.
Reciting a few lines penned by freedom fighter Ram Prasad Bismil, ‘Safaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai’, Sidhu said every Indian should feel proud of the country’s rich culture and glorious history. “Every citizen should contribute his bit in nurturing India’s culture and take the country forward on the path of progress,” he said.
He said some freedom fighters were like institutions and continued to inspire generations.
