Rs 2.25 cr in old banknotes seized, 6 held in Thane

Police in Thane in Maharashtra said they have seized Rs 2.25 crore in demonetised notes and detained six persons in the last one week.

Police in Thane in Maharashtra on Wednesday said they have seized Rs 2.25 crore in demonetised notes and detained six persons in the last one week.

“On February 25, we seized Rs 46 lakh in demonetised currency and detained three persons. On February 27, officials of the Thane crime branch detained one person and seized currency worth Rs 50 lakh,” joint commissioner of police Asuthosh Dhumre told reporters.

“Yesterday (Tuesday), we detained two persons and seized demonetised currency notes worth Rs 1.29 crore,” he added.
