Shatrughan Sinha says will support BJP in no-confidence motion

BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha said that he will be with his party during the troubled times to defeat the Opposition’s no-confidence motion.

BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, who has often spoken against his party and the government publicly, said on Thursday that he would vote against the opposition’s no-trust vote in Parliament on Friday.

“I am a member of the BJP and will follow party command as a disciplined soldier...I will be with the party during the troubled times and go with it to defeat the opposition-sponsored no-confidence vote,” Sinha told PTI.

The actor-turned-politician who is also a two-time MP from Patna Sahib made it clear that he has no intention to quit the BJP before the 2019 general election. His remarks came amidst reports of his growing proximity with RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his family in recent times.

Last month at a function in Bihar on a BJP platform, Sinha had slammed the Modi government for causing the public “great hardships” through demonetisation and GST which rendered many of young population jobless.

“The BJP did not give me tickets; I took it on my own. And I will contest from Patna Sahib again,” he said at the function on June 20. Sidelined in the BJP, Sinha has been cozying up with opposition parties such as the RJD and Congress and had praised Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, calling him a “very mature leader”.

On Thursday, the actor-politician justified his critical comments on different issues, saying it was like showing “mirror” and that he would continue doing so. “But, this is all within the family,” he said.
