Rao, who held a meeting with IT department officials and service providers of the proposed wallet, said the wallet would be user-friendly with emphasis on convenience, security and privacy.

Every cash transaction of citizens with government would be free and the wallet would initially offer services in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and water works, a state government release quoted him as saying.

Named ‘T-Wallet’, the application would be extended to fair price shops (FPS) and citizen service centres (e-seva),he said.

The T-Wallet would work on smartphones, feature phones, computers, call centres and “No Phone” as well, he said.

Noting that the ‘T-Wallet’ would be available in Telugu as well, Rama Rao said its logo would be launched by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao next week.
