Seven people were killed and 10 injured when the mini van they were travelling in collided with a lorry at a village near Udayarpalayam in Ariyalur district on Sunday, police said.

The occupants of the van were returning home after attending a condolence meeting at Katchiperumal village when the mishap occurred.
All seven persons were killed on the spot. All the injured have been hospitalised.
The lorry driver was not among those injured, police added.
