Two and half-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Tamil Nadu, accused arrested

Police said the accused Gopalakrishnan, a carpenter by profession used to frequent the victim’s house and take her to his home in Ethumakandi village and sexually assaulted her.

A 40-year-old man was on Saturday arrested in Mettupalayam near in Coimbatore, for allegedly sexually assaulting a two and half year-old-girl in nearby Nilgiris district, police said.

The accused Gopalakrishnan, a carpenter by profession used to frequent the victim’s house and take her to his home in Ethumakandi village and sexually assaulted her, they said.

A few days ago, the child’s parents were shocked to notice her crying and found ‘few marks’ on her vital parts, police said adding Gopalakrishnan was missing around the same time.

The accused was nabbed in Mettupalayam, some 40 KMs from Coimbatore.

Further investigations are on, they said.
