Army authorities confiscated dozens of mobile phones from soldiers at a training establishment in Madhya Pradesh and destroyed them after the men were found to be misusing the devices, sources said on Friday. The incident took place in 2015.
The mobile phones were destroyed in a dramatic fashion to set an example for soldiers violating rules that bar them from using these devices during physical training, drill and weapon training classes, a video reveals.
Vouching that it was an authentic video, the sources said the incident took place more than two years ago at the Mahar Regimental Centre in Saugor, MP.
The 40-second video clip, which has doing been the rounds on social media for a few weeks, shows two jawans manually destroying the cell phones with scores of soldiers watching the proceedings from the side.
