Widows from Vrindavan, students tie rakhi to PM Narendra Modi

Widows from Vrindavan tied home-made rakhis to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi.

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, widows from Vrindavan tied home-made rakhis on the wrist of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in Delhi on Monday.

One of the widows, speaking to ANI, said, “We were very happy to tie the Prime Minister home-made rakhis on his wrist. We have invited him to come to Vrindavan. We also blessed him.”

She said it was a wonderful experience for them to celebrate the festival with the Prime Minister.

Some school students also tied rakhis to Prime Minister Modi.

A student from RBS International School, Anjali, said she was very happy to meet the Prime Minister for the first time.

“The works and contribution by the Prime Minister for the development and self dignity of Indian women is highly appreciable and we as Indians would always extend our support towards the betterment of the nation,” she said.

Centenarian ties rakhi to PM Modi

Sharbati Devi, a 103-year-old widow, also tied rakhi on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wrist.

Devi met Prime Minister Modi at his official residence at Delhi’s Lok Kalyan Marg .

Sharbati Devi lost her brother about 50 years ago, and would always miss him, especially on Rakhi.
