After 10 years of no recruitment, the Haryana government has decided to fill 1,035 posts of assistant professors lying vacant in government colleges.

After 10 years of no recruitment, the Haryana government has decided to fill 1,035 posts of assistant professors lying vacant in government colleges. According to state education minister Geeta Bhukkal, the requisition for 140 posts has already been sent to Haryana Public Service Commission whereas application for the remaining 895 vacancies will be rushed shortly.

She said that out of the total number of vacancies, the maximum are for the science stream. Also, some vacancies were considered and finalised as per people's demand.

Bhukkal said that chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda wants to develop Haryana as an educational hub of international standard.

Infrastructure is being upgraded in all schools and colleges in the state a major way. "The government is committed to provide avenues and opportunities for education at all levels so that the youth can contribute in building a modern India," she added.

The minister said that six new language labs will be set up in government colleges during the current financial year. As many as 25 language labs have already been set up in 25 government colleges. Also, more than 20 professional courses are being run in different government colleges of the state. "We are of the view that the introduction of more job-oriented courses would increase the employment chances of the youth," she added.

Bhukkal said that of the remaining 895 vacancies, 25 are for Botany, six each for Biotech and Defense Studies, 134 for Chemistry, 154 for Commerce, 125 for Computer Science, 7 for Economics, 2 each for Fine Arts, Geology, Music, Political Science, Public Administration and Punjabi.
