As part of its drive against power theft, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) claims to have detected 1685 cases of electricity theft in Faridabad Circle and imposed a penalty of Rs 2.80 crore on defaulters.

“A special team from DHBVN, Hissar has recovered arrears amounting to Rs 17.60 crores from 15650 defaulters and disconnected power
connections of 4010 consumers,” DHBVN spokesman D P Dull said. “The team detected some cases of power theft by way of use of electricity in category other than that for which the connection was taken,” he added.
“The drive was launched on Dec 1 and will be on till March 31,” Anurag Agarwal, Managing Director, DHBVN told HT.
