Customs officials have seized what they suspect is nearly 1 kg of Uranium from a bus on the Jangipur-Barakar route. HT reports.

Customs officials have seized what they suspect is nearly 1 kg of uranium from a bus on the Jangipur-Barakar route.

The driver and conductor were detained.

The administration has sought help from scientists of Bhaba Atomic Research Centre to examine the contents of the bag with the word ‘uranium’ embossed on it.

“Investigations revealed it was smuggled from Bangladesh,” said a customs official.
