"All field units have been put on alert and have been directed to act as rescue teams in case of any unforeseen situation and exigency", a police spokesman said today.

The field units comprise police stations, police posts, operation groups, minority pickets and VDCs.

Besides reserve units have been kept at three places of Bhaderwah, Gandoh and district headquarters Doda to supplement any possible rescue operations, he said.

Bhaderwah-Doda-Kishtwar belt has witnessed 21 tremors over a week with maximum 11 on May 1.

Two persons were killed and 69 others injured, including 26 students and three teachers in the tremors that shook Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The administration is, meanwhile, providing assistance to those rendered homeless by the tremors.
