The appeal was made to the chief secretaries of Gujarat, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, from where most of the victims hailed.

SASB, which conducts the annual pilgrimage to the shrine, has issued many yatra related advisories.

"We have addressed the Chief Secretaries of Gujarat, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and solicited their interest for the dissemination of Yatra related advisories which are repeatedly issued by the Board in the larger interest of the pilgrims," a spokesman of the SASB said.

The communication sent by Chief Executive Officer of SASB R K Goyal stated that people who have medical problems especially cardiac ailments, run serious risk to their lives in this mountainous area.

"A possible reason of the high fatalities could be that the yatris belonging to these states are not exposed to the conditions in the high mountain regions," the spokesman said.
