12 fall ill due to food poisoning in Mumbai

At least 12 people were admitted in two different hospitals and several others were administered first aid due to suspected food poisoning.

At least 12 people were admitted in two different hospitals and several others were administered first aid due to suspected food poisoning in Mumbai on Tuesday.

More than 50 people, working in Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), complained of nausea and vomiting after having food in a canteen, sources said.

Five persons were admitted to PD Hinduja hospital, they said.

While of the 40 persons, who reached Lilavati Hospital, in suburban Bandra, seven were admitted, Vice president of Lilavati Hospital Dr Narendra Trivedi said.

Those admitted are undergoing various tests to rule out possibility of gastroenteritis, the hospital sources said.
