Three boys were arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl on Sunday at Tokarkhan, 15km away from Kasara. According to the police, two of the boys are 17 years old, while the third one is just 12.
The girl was on her way to attend a function at a relative’s place.
“The girl is a Class 8 student and stays at Tribal Welfare Hostel-cum-School at Shindewadi,” said SP Prashant Waghunde, deputy superintendent of police, Kasara.
Waghunde said the girl and her aunt had left at 7pm to attend a haldi function at a relative’s house.
The aunt was reportedly walking ahead as she was in a rush to reach the venue, the police said.
“The victim was alone at the time the three boys accosted her, forcibly dragged her to a room and then raped her,” said a police officer, adding that they threatened to kill the girl if she informed her parents or the police.
The girl returned home and told her mother about the incident, who in turn lodged a complaint with the police.
The three were arrested within two hours, the police said, adding that the girl knew the accused as they are from the same village.
