THE STATE-LEVEL introductory meet for Muslims youths of marriageable age was held at the Ravindra Bhawan in Bhopal on Sunday.

Over 1,300 girls and boys had registered for the introductory meet and the bio-data of around 400 youths were read out at the function. The rest of the bio-data could not be read out due to the lack of time.

The organisers claim that three-dozen marriages were fixed at the venue itself. None of the youths came on stage for giving introduction. Instead, the organisers introduced them.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Habib Rehan Sahab cautioned Muslims against extravagant marriages. He said that there should not be unnecessary expenditure and show-off during marriage.

The rest of the bio-data that could not be read out would be included in the next programme that will be held in May. Zenith Education Society secretary Zahid Khan said among the girls’ bio-data received, over 540 were from graduates or post-graduate.

Only 10% of all boys and girls were less educated. Almost 30% of all youths are well educated and have technical and professional qualifications.

The chief guest on the occasion, Minister for Industries Babulal Gaur lauded the initiative of Zenith and Saleha magazine for organising the programme. Mayor Sunil Soon was also present.

Those who were felicitated at the function included poet Kausar Siddiqui, Intekhab Alam Durrani, Nida Pasha, Shakil Khan and MI Khan. Among those, who were present included Shahab Ahmad, SM Husain, Waseem Qureshi and Gulrez Ahmad.
