A Class IX student committed suicide in Faridabad early on Tuesday following alleged harassment by a boy and his three friends in Garot village under Palwal district.

Police have registered a case of an abetment to suicide against the boy.

The 14-year-old girl’s family had found her body hanging from a ceiling fan in their house on 3am on Tuesday.

“Her father alleged a boy from their neighbourhood and three others had been harassing his daughter for some time. He said the accused used to send her messages and called on her mobile phone at odd hours,” said a police officer.

The girl’s father had even complained to the family of the main accused some days ago.

The boys, he alleged, threatened his daughter for lodging a protest with his parents, forcing his daughter to take her own life.

Based on his complaint, the police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused boy and his three friends.

The family cremated the body in the evening.
