16 new swine flu cases; tally reaches 525

Sixteen new cases of swine flu were reported from across the country on Friday taking the total number of those affected by the H1N1 virus to 525.

Sixteen new cases of swine flu were reported from across the country on Friday taking the total number of those affected by the H1N1 virus to 525.

While 10 cases were reported from Pune, two were reported from Hyderabad, and one each from Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, and Manipur.

Out of the ten cases in Pune, nine cases are contacts of previously reported positive cases. The tenth case is of a 21-year old man who travelled from London by British Airways Flight and further travelled to Pune by car on the same day.

Out of the two cases in Hyderabad, the first one is of a 24-year old man who travelled from Dubai by Air India Express Flight IX 632 reaching Hyderabad. The second case is a 16-year old man who is a contact of a previously reported positive case.

The lone case in Delhi is a contact of a previously reported positive case.

The case from Gurgaon is a six-year-old man who is a contact of a previously reported positive case, while the case in Chandigarh is a contact of a previously reported positive case.

A total of 2,361 people have been tested so far out of which 525 are positive for swine flu. Of the 525 positive cases, 369 have been discharged.
