16 people injured in lathicharge in Davanagere

Sixteen people were injured when police resorted to lathicharge to disperse a group of farmers, who had laid a siege to the electricity supply office at Nyamathi village, demanding regular power supply.

Sixteen people were on Wednesday injured when police resorted to lathicharge to disperse a group of farmers, who had laid a siege to the electricity supply office at Nyamathi village, demanding regular power supply.

Some policemen were also injured in stone pelting by the protesters, who were irked over the police action.

Additional police forces from Davanagere have been rushed to the village where the situation is stated to be under control, police said.

About 30 persons have been taken into custody.
