Two people were killed and 37 injured when a passenger-packed bus skidded off the road into a gorge in central Kashmir's hilly area on Friday morning.

According to the police, the bus fell deep into a gorge when it was heading towards Srinagar from Budgam district's Raithan village on Friday. The incident occurred on Palapora road, which has steep curves and slopes.

The preliminary reports have confirmed death of two passengers. “Around 37 others have been injured,” said an eyewitness.

The critically injured have been shifted to separate hospitals in Budgam and Srinagar districts.

Initial reports suggest the driver of the vehicle lost control over the steering and drove down the hillside. A police team have reached the spot and are collecting details to understand what lead to the accident.

Seven people were killed on Thursday when a vehicle fell into a gorge on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
