At least two labourers were killed after a poultry house collapsed in Mohalla area under Ballabagarh Sadar police station in Faridabad on Sunday evening. The police launched a rescue operation soon after the incident and recovered two bodies.
The deceased have been identified as Gange and Suleman from Ranchi, Jharkhand. The rescue operation is on to search for more bodies as eyewitnesses claim two more people were buried under the rubble.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 5pm when some labourers had gone inside the two-storey poultry house to feed the chickens. Three of the labourers suffered minor injuries; one of them, a girl, was shifted to BK hospital for treatment. Hundreds of chickens were buried alive.
The owner of the poultry farm lives in Noida, police said, adding that once the rescue operation is complete, the cause of the incident will be investigated.
“It seems the building collapsed due to sub-standard material used in its construction,” said Balraj Singh, deputy commissioner, Faridabad.
