Police said the roof of the house of Desa Singh, where dozens of people had gathered to watch the effigy of Ravana being burnt at Parade Ground, came crashing down.

Twenty people were injured in the incident in Ajnala, 25 km from Amritsar, including one or two with minor fractures, police said.
