The first blast occurred at around 11 pm (2000 GMT) on Sunday in the garden of a school in the Bagcilar neighbourhood of Istanbul, wounding at least six people.

NTV reported that the first of another three blasts in the Aegean Sea resort town of Marmaris occurred around midnight, caused by an explosive device left under a seat in a dolmus, a minibus used for short-distance transportation. That explosion left 12 Britons and two others seriously injured.

Two more explosions followed in Marmaris, one in the centre of town and another in a suburb. No one is said to have been injured in the subsequent blasts. No group has claimed responsibility for the bombings.
