The Delhi government-run DJB, which is the chief supplier of drinking water in the Capital, has these “tainted” employees across its ranks, the reply says, adding the charges against the officials were of indulging in corrupt practices.

A total of 137 cases involving 214 senior officials — serving as well as retired — are pending since 2002. The body employs around 21,000 people.

The reply said probes were on in 317 other cases lodged by the CBI and Delhi government’s anti-corruption branch.

Vivek Garg, a Delhi-based social activist, filed an application asking the DJB to provide information on pending corruption-related cases against its serving and retired staff.

“Of the 30 senior officials against whom corruption cases are pending, 11 are junior engineers, nine assistant engineers, four executive engineers, four superintendent engineers and two chief engineers who have retired,” Garg said. He said most of the “tainted” officials still held important posts.

The DJB brass said the issue was being wrongly portrayed.
