22 killed in explosions in J&K this year

Atleast 22 people, including 10 Army personnel have been killed and 151 other injured in 49 grenade and Improvised Explosive Device attacks that took place in the state this year, officials said.

Atleast 22 people, including 10 Army personnel have been killed and 151 other injured in 49 grenade and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks that took place in the state this year, officials said.

"Twenty-two people including 10 Army jawans were killed and 151 persons were injured in 49 grenade and IED explosions in the state since January 1 this year", official sources told PTI.

The violence graph in the valley has seen a steep rise this month as 14 people, including 10 Army jawans, a police officer and a BJP activist, have been killed and 92 other including 23 security men were injured in 14 grenade attacks and one IED blast during last three weeks, they said.

Eight people were killed and 22 injured in eight grenade explosions in the state in March this year, while nine people were injured in seven grenade attacks in the month of June.

The major attacks in July included the IED explosion targeted army bus killing 10 jawans and injuring 18 others on Narbal Road in Kashmir valley on July 19.

Besides, one Special Police Officer (SPO) was also killed and two other injured in grenade attack on Doda district Police Line on July 14, while a BJP activist was killed and 21 injured in a grenade attack in Bhaderwah area of the same district on July 2nd.
