The search was carried out following an alert sounded by Intelligence Bureau (IB) that terrorists are planning to strike important cities of South India.

Police who searched Dakshin Express at Jangaon rounded up 25 persons traveling from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and seized four country-made weapons, they said.

All the 25 persons were produced before a Magistrate and later sent to remand, they said.

About 13 other suspects were also detained while searching the Hyderabad-New Delhi- Andhra Pradesh Express train at Kazipet Railway station in Warangal district.

"They have been detained for questioning in the backdrop of terror alert in the state capital," a senior police officer said.

"We are also verifying the antecedents of these persons," he said.

Meanwhile, in a press release Warangal Superintendent of Police V C Sajjanar asked the police personnel to be alert and directed them to step up security checks.
