He is in custody since January 19 in connection with the Chhatrapati Shivaji rail terminus shootout, where he and his accomplice Ismail Khan began firing indiscriminately at passengers there.

Kasab has been in police custody since his arrest on the night of November 26 and has been booked in 12 cases by the city police.

Due to security concerns, he has not been produced in an open court so far, police said.

The shootout at Girgaum Chowpatty, ambush on a police vehicle near Rang Bhavan auditorium killing three senior police officials including ATS chief Hemant Karkare, a vehicle theft vehicle at Marine Drive and the shootout at Cama Hospital are the four other cases in which Kasab has been in police custody.

Kasab, who is believed to be a resident of Faridkot in Pakistan, has had no legal representation so far and sought assistance from the Pakistani government.

He has so far not accepted legal assistance from local lawyers who have offered to represent him.

Nine of the terrorists who were involved in the attacks were killed in the standoff with security forces.
