The DMK has celebrated the first piece of good news for it in a long time in the 2G Spectrum case on Thursday with an assertion that soon its Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and former telecom minister A Raja would come out clean from the allegations.
While senior party leaders expressed confidence that all would be well soon, DMK patriarch came out with a cautious reaction. "Lets see how it goes. Earlier, the CBI only said they have evidence against Maran. Now they say there's nothing."
He was also reacting to CBI submission that no proof could be found against former textiles minister Dayanidhi Maran on the allegations of deliberate delay in granting spectrum licenses to Maxis when he was the telecom minister.
Senior DMK Rajya Sabha MP TKS Elangovan said "there was no truth in the allegations."
"I think that ultimately, CBI chargesheet in the other two cases (Raja and Kanimozhi) will also fall as they cannot prove anything," he told Hindustan Times and added "the CBI is under pressure from some other agencies to pursue cases against the DMK leaders," Elangovan said but refused to make any elaboration as to which "other agencies" he was referring to.
