3 drunk drivers reach dead-end

Three drunk drivers from Delhi were sent to two-days rigorous imprisonment at the district jail. The Gurgaon traffic police nabbed them during the anti-drunken driving campaign.

Three drunk drivers from Delhi were sent to two-days rigorous imprisonment at the district jail. The Gurgaon traffic police nabbed them during the anti-drunken driving campaign.

The trio was also fined Rs 2,000. They were caught entering Gurgaon from Delhi on the expressway. Chief judicial magistrate Jasbir Singh awarded the sentence on Thursday.

The accused Sumeshpal alias Bablu, Ravinder Singh and Munish Uniyal had consumed more than 100 ml of alcohol.

A police team led by police commissioner SS Deswal made the intercept, and a case was filed against the accused with DLF Phase 2 police station.

The accused were convicted under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

The traffic Police also fined 57 two-wheeler riders who were not wearing helmets. They arrived at fuel stations without knowing Thursday was also ‘No Helmet, No Petrol’ day. Traffic police personnel and volunteers were posted at four fuel stations for the purpose.

Deswal has also called a meeting of all fuel station owners next week. The traffic police will seek their cooperation in not giving fuel to motorcyclists who don’t wear helmets.
