On Monday, a Jamaican court ordered the removal of Ramabhai Sangitaben Patel, 26, his wife Vinodbhai Gitaben Patel, 24, and his sister Rambhai Vimos Patel, 24, who pleaded guilty to uttering false documents.

They are to be returned to India on Tuesday via Curacao, The Jamaica Observer reported.

The court heard that on May 9, 2005 the three, who came to Jamaica on March 9, went to the Norman Manley International Airport and attempted to board an Air Jamaica flight bound for Toronto, Canada.

The Indians presented three Canadian permanent resident cards to immigration officers bearing the names, Preeti Daril, Kajal Daril and Sanjay Daril, but immigration officials discovered that they were fraudulent documents, the report said.

All three were also found to have in their possession New York state driver's licences in the same names. They were arrested and charged for uttering forged documents.

According to the report, defence attorney Roger Davis, pleaded to the court for leniency not to deport his clients, submitting that they had been in custody for a week and had pleaded guilty. He presented airline tickets to take them back to India with connections in Curacao.

Resident Magistrate Gayle, in acceding to the lawyer's submission, admonished and discharged them and issued a removal order to leave Jamaica instead of a deportation order.

They are to be escorted to the airport by immigration officers who will put them on the flight destined to Curacao from where they will make connections to India.
