3 militants arrested, ULFA cadre surrenders

A suspected cadre of Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam was apphrehended by BSF along the Indo-Bangla border.

A suspected cadre of Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) was apphrehended by BSF on Saturday along the Indo-Bangla border.

A MULTA cadre Sharul Islam of Gopalganj in Bangladesh was apprehended at Sadartilla on the cross-junction of Meghalaya-Assam border with Bangladesh, BSF sources said.

Another Bangladeshi national, Abdul Gaffor, was apprehended in Nayabazar area of Meghalaya.

In another incident, two suspected cadre of banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) were caught near Borsora of West Khasi Hills district. An SBML gun was seized when police raided two camps of the rebel group on Friday.

Police suspect some cadre might have fled the camps before the raid.

An ULFA cadre, Okon Rabha, also surrendered before police in East Garo Hills district. He deposited a AK-47 rifle, some ammunition and detonators.
