Hospital local trustee Aziz Ahmed Siddiqui claimed more than 40 employees of the hospital expressed their desire to resume work conceding to management’s demand for an application for reappointment and tendering apology for their
conduct. “With their help we can start some units later this week,” he said.

Representatives of the staff, however, denied that they would tender apology or apply for reappointment. “They may claim to have received more than 2,000 applications but not more than eight post-graduate doctors have applied in response to their advertisement for vacancy and their requirement is for 63.

The hospital cannot be run with the help of computer operators and clerks,” said one of them. Siddiqui, however, maintains that application for reappointment was a legal requirement and an apology on the part of staff was imperative since their agitation disrupted work in the hospital for almost a month and it had happened not once but three times.

But all this seems to be last-minute ‘bargaining’ on the part of both the parties to reach an honourable settlement without having to lose face.
