CPCC President Danendra Sahu told reporters on Saturday that the party has also asked the district Congress presidents to expel a total of 80 partymen from the party for their anti- party activities, in their respective districts.

Sahu said action was taken against 42 people who had contested against party's authorised candidate as independents or campaigned against them in last year's assembly election.

"Besides, the Congress president added, "that all the district party presidents have been asked to expel such people from the party. In total 80 people will be expelled from the districts."

A proposal for recommending action against party leaders including MLAs, MLA candidates, district presidents and other party office-bearers for their anti-party activities, to the All India Congress Committee was also passed in the Saturday's meeting, Sahu said.

Meanwhile, AICC president Sonia Gandhi had also publicly acknowledged that Congress lost in Chhattisgarh due to intra-party rivalry.

Following this, CPCC had taken a strong posture and on Saturday expelled several party men for six years.
