On July 26, 2012, Mukesh Kumar of Brass village was murdered and a case was registered against 13 villagers.

The family members and villagers protested against the "shoddy police investigations" on the next day of the murder.

Kumar's family had alleged that the then Nisisng SHO Jaspal Singh Dhillon had tried to influence the case by manipulating the evidences found from the spot.Shahshank Anand, superintendent of police (SP), had immediately transferred Dhillon to the police lines and marked an inquiry to Joginder Rathee, deputy superintendent of police (DSP), to look into the allegations.

Later, the case was handed over to the state crime branch and it is still being investigated.Rathee, who had submitted the inquiry report to the SP on Monday, told Hindustan Times that Dhillon and others were found guilty on his report's basis.
