They had been arrested in connection with the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts that killed 53 people and injured over 200.

While producing the five before the metropolitan court of Justice J.M. Patel on Tuesday, Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) officials sought more time for investigation as they suspected the five to be also involved in bomb blasts, earlier, in other states.

The court granted further police custody of SIMI leader Safdar Nagori, and activists, Abdul Sibli, Hafeez Hussain, Kamruddin Nagori and Amil Pervez until Sep 23.
