Despite having 54 security guards and 64 CCTV cameras installed on the premises of The Icon apartments in Sector 43, the suicide by a Japanese national went unnoticed till morning.
None of the other 1,000 occupants of the condominium, which has 364 apartments, too claim to have seen anything or noticed any change in the behaviour of their neighbour.
Residents are now apprehensive and are raising eyebrows over high security claims by the developer.
Tsutomi Omair, 45, committed suicide near the park of the building and it was the gardener who found the body in the morning.
Though the spot where Omair hung himself is covered by some trees and bushes, none of the CCTV cameras recorded him tying a muffler with the iron pole of the fencing.
Satish Kumar Yadav, security officer of LE Security deployed in the complex, said, “There are 54 security guards on duty at all times and we have CCTV cameras too.
But the place where the incident happened does not have any camera. Moreover, that area is slightly covered with trees and ornamental plants so nothing was visible.”
He added, “Our security guards are always alert and vigilant and they would have raised an alarm had they noticed anything amiss.”

“I am surprised that there are so many security personnel and they claim to keep a check on every nook and corner of the society but still nobody came to know about the suicide. It must have taken 10-15 minutes for the deceased to take the extreme step but nobody came to know,”a resident said.
Another resident added, “Despite so many security personnel and cameras, a man committed suicide in the common area without anyone noticing. This is shocking.”
