Fifty nine Non-Scheduled Operators (NSO) in the aviation sector were given permits in the last three years, government said on Thursday.
"For non-scheduled operations, government has issued 11, 37 and 11 permits in 2007, 08 and 09 respectively," Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said in a written reply to a Lok Sabha query.
NSOs are those flights that cannot have a fixed time table for their operations.
The list of NSOs includes the GMR Aviation, Bajaj Auto and Jindal Steel limited. Replying to another query, the Minister said that as per the Indira Gandhi International Airport master plan, an exclusive terminal for these operators would be built.
He added that 25 private and chartered flights take off daily from the IGI airport in Delhi and 15 flights take off from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
