687 in fray for 2nd phase on Nov 20

Electoral fortunes of 687 candidates will be decided in the second phase of polling in Chhattisgarh on November 20. In the second phase, elections will be held in 51 Assembly constituencies spread across eight districts.

Electoral fortunes of 687 candidates will be decided in the second phase of polling in Chhattisgarh on November 20.

In the second phase, elections will be held in 51 Assembly constituencies spread across eight districts.

Prominent leaders whose fate would be decided include former chief minister Ajit Jogi, his wife Renu Jogi, BJP state unit president Vishnudeo Sai, Deputy Speaker Badridhar Diwan, Home Minister Ramvichar Netam, Health Minister Amar Agrawal, Dilipsingh Judeo's son Yudhvir Singh Judeo, NCP state unit president Nobel Varma and former home minister Nand Kumar Patel.

While Bhatgaon has the maximum of 29 candidates, Pathalgaon has got the lowest number of candidates at seven.

In the second phase of polling, 88,19,264 voters will exercise their franchise at 12,073 polling stations and 52 women candidates are in the electoral fray.

Districts where polling will be held in the second phase includes Raipur, Bilaspur, Kora, Raigarh, Sarguja, Koria, Jashpur and Janjgir and Champa.

Elections will be held at six Scheduled Caste, 15 Scheduled Tribe and 30 unreserved seats.

Chhattisgarh has a total of 90 Assembly seats and considering the security aspects, elections are being held in two phases in the state.
