7 kg IED recovered in JK

Army foiled a plan of militants to trigger blasts during the upcoming elections in the state with the recovery of 7 kg IED and other ammunition in Reasi district of JK.

Army on Monday foiled a plan of militants to trigger blasts during the upcoming elections in the state with the recovery of seven kg IED and other ammunition in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, defence sources said.

During sensitisation operation in Mahore area in view of the coming assembly elections, army troops busted a major hideout in the area and recovered an IED weighing seven kgs to trigger explosions and target political party leaders and security forces, they said.

Besides, other recoveries included eight electronic detonators, one normal detonator and 20 batteries of 1.5 volt, they said.

However, militants escaped before the raid on the hideout.
