The clarion call was sounded when some women, including Mugdha Godse, Minissha Lamba and Neha Dhupia, joined the Women Against Lazy Stubble (WALS) campaign for Procter & Gamble (P&G) last year.
Over 2,000 Adams in Mumbai got together and shaved, setting a Guinness World Record. The campaign also bagged the ‘Launch of a New Product’ trophy at IPRA’s annual Golden World Awards and a Silver Lion at the recent Cannes International Advertising Festival.
"The Shave India movement started two years ago as the To Shave Or Not To Shave campaign. A survey across eight metros revealed that over 77 per cent of women prefer clean shaven men," says Rashi Mittal, manager and influencer, marketing for Gillette.
Incidentally, most men feel a close shave makes them look good. But according to the survey, most men from Chennai and Bangalore take more than half an hour to shave, while 59 per cent of those from Mumbai and 56 per cent from Kolkata claim they have never cut themselves with a razor.
