8 dead, 50 injured in Nepal bus accident

The bus, carrying more than 120 passengers, was on its way from Udayapur when it skidded off a mountain road and fell into a river.

At least eight people were killed and 50 injured on Friday when a bus heading to the capital Kathmandu skidded off a mountain road and fell 70 metres into a river, the independent Image Channel television reported.

According to the report, two children were among those killed in the accident in Dhading district, about 50 km west of the capital.

The injured were being treated at a government hospital in Kathmandu.

The overcrowded bus, carrying more than 120 passengers, was on its way from Udayapur in east Nepal to the Nepalese capital.
