9 killed, 6 injured as trucks collide in Assam

Nine people, including two women, were killed and six others injured when two trucks collided in Assam's Sonitpur district today.

The victims, mostly construction labourers, were travelling in one of the trucks, which was on its way from Arunachal Pradesh, while the other was cement-laden that was going towards Gohpur from Tezpur, police said.

While eight persons died on the spot, one succumbed to injuries on way to hospital, sources said.

The injured were rushed to Gohpur Civil Hospital where their condition were stated to be critical.

The dead were yet to be identified, the sources added.
