Even in past there have been concerted efforts on part of the railways to free the platforms of cattle, said the DRM R K Gupta, but the cattle somehow managed to sneak and cause inconvenience to the passengers. “This time, we are going to make sure that the cattle were sent to Kanji house,” vowed the DRM.

As regards the much-hyped Gareeb Rath Express, the dream train of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Gupta said the train to New Delhi was receiving overwhelming response from Lucknow. While the same train to Saharsa was receiving zero response. Elaborating his point, the DRM said during the last run, a couple of days ago, 335 seats out of 355 in 3 AC were occupied and more so the occupancy in the chair car was near total, while on the train to Saharsa, all the 72 seats went empty from Lucknow.

The DRM further said that the work of regulating traffic on the premises of Charbagh Railway Station has begun. He said that a traffic constable would be deputed for the purpose.

Gupta further said that any vehicle if found to be unruly parked would be towed away by the traffic police.

The effort to streamline parking on the premises was part of the larger exercise that is being done by the railways to renovate the station.
